WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 3 will officially launch on August 27th. With the return of the two classic raids, Mount Hyjal and Black Temple, players will once again face their most challenging battles.
While this content is from the classic TBC version, Phase 3 raids still demand a high level of teamwork, gear preparation, and character development. Players who want to participate in the initial raids should start planning now.
Completing the following in advance will allow you to quickly enter raids after WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Black Temple and Mount Hyjal raids open, instead of wasting time and gold on basic preparations.
Reputation
If your WoW TBC Anniversary character primarily uses flasks rather than elixirs, it's best to raise several key reputations to Exalted before Phase 3 begins, including The Sha'tar, Cenarion Expedition, and Aldor or Scryers.
Upon reaching Exalted, Scryer players can find Arcanist Xorith, while Aldor players can find Haldor the Compulsive. They are located in their respective areas of Shattrath City. Use the new currency, Mark of the Illidari, dropped by Phase 3 Raid mobs to exchange for Flasks.
Grinding reputation in TBC isn't complicated. The Sha'tar can be obtained by repeatedly challenging The Botanica, while Cenarion Expedition is recommended for farming Steamvaults. For Aldor and Scryer reputation, you can use items like Signets, Marks of Sargeras, Fel Armaments, and Arcane Tomes to increase it.
Attunement
You need to ensure you complete Attunement for Mount Hyjal and Black Temple before WoW BCC Anniversary Phase 3. Mount Hyjal questline is relatively simple. First, you need to reach Keepers of Time Revered reputation, then go to Caverns of Time and find Soridormi to accept the quest Vials of Eternity.
After that, simply defeat Kael'thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, collect the corresponding quest items, and submit them to officially gain entry to Mount Hyjal.
In contrast, Black Temple attunement is much longer. This questline begins in Shadowmoon Valley and varies depending on your chosen faction. Aldors need to go to Sanctum of the Stars to find Anchorite Ceyla, while Scryers need to go to Altar of Sha'tar to find Arcanist Thelis.
Note that completing these quests does not immediately grant Black Temple entry. The final stage requires defeating the first boss of Mount Hyjal, Rage Winterchill, and then completing subsequent quests to officially obtain Medallion of Karabor.
This necklace provides 40 Shadow Resistance, a crucial stat in the late-game boss fight against Mother Shahraz in Phase 3 Black Temple.
Even with account-shared Attunement being quite convenient, Medallion of Karabor is still worth acquiring individually for each character, and every character preparing for TBC Classic Phase 3 raid should complete the quest chain.
Gear
In the early stages of TBC Phase 3, we'll primarily rely on BoE, BoP Shadow Resistance Gear, enchantments, and gems to acquire resistance gear.
While Phase 3 introduces new Shadow Resistance gear, this gear comes from the new reputation faction Ashtongue Deathsworn and requires a Friendly or Honored reputation to obtain, making it unusable immediately in the early stages of progression.
You can also utilize multiple enchantments to increase resistance; for example, Enchant Cloak - Greater Shadow Resistance provides +15 Shadow Resistance. Shadow Armor Kit can be applied to Chest, Legs, Hands, and Feet, each providing +8 Shadow Resistance. Glyph of Shadow Warding provides +20 Shadow Resistance to headgear.
Additionally, you can add extra resistance to gear slots using Void Spheres. A more recommended approach isn't to buy a large amount of pure resistance gear, but to prioritize gear with offensive stats and then supplement Shadow Resistance through enchantments and gems. This reduces damage loss in WoW BCC Anniversary Raid.
The first boss in TBC Anniversary Phase 3 Black Temple, High Warlord Naj'entus, will also test your survivability. His Tidal Burst skill deals massive damage to the entire raid, while Impaling Spine not only deals instant damage but also inflicts continuous physical damage and impairs the target's movement.
Therefore, an extra set of Stamina gear is very valuable. For players looking to improve survivability, the easiest way is to prepare Arena Points PvP Gear in advance. PvP gear in WoW BCC Anniversary offers very high Stamina, helping you easily increase your health without completely sacrificing combat ability.
Consumables
The two raids in TBC Phase 3 contain numerous Demon and Undead type enemies, significantly increasing the value of some special consumables. The most important of these is Elixir of Demonslaying, which previously appeared in Magtheridon and Prince Malchezaar fights of Phase 1, and its importance will increase further in Phase 3.
This is because Black Temple and Mount Hyjal contain seven Demon Bosses: Anetheron, Kaz'rogal, Azgalor, Archimonde, Supremus, Mother Shahraz, and Illidan Stormrage.
Therefore, the price of Elixir of Demonslaying is likely to continue to rise with Phase 3. Crafting it requires Gromsblood and Ghost Mushroom; collecting materials in advance can save a significant amount of WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Gold.
Undead type enemies are also a focus of Phase 3. Horde players can obtain special buff consumables through repeatable quests in Ghostlands.
After finding Magistrix Aminel, you can complete Spinal Dust and Rotting Hearts quests, granting 15 Spell Damage against Undead and 30 Attack Power against Undead, respectively. These effects are extremely helpful in Mount Hyjal.
Additionally, all TBC Anniversary players can obtain Stratholme Holy Water from Stratholme. This item deals area-of-effect damage to Undead enemies, essentially acting as a dedicated Undead Sapper that doesn't require Engineering.
