Best Way to Obtain Fresh Meat
Defeat Butcher
First, this method requires the use of Pound of Flesh. If you have accumulated a lot of Pounds of Flesh early on, that's ideal. If not, try to obtain as much as possible through Bloodied Activities and Undercity of Kurast.
We need to operate in Butcher's dedicated Broiler room. Each boss fight consumes 3 Pounds of Flesh. Killing Butcher in Torment 4 takes approximately a few seconds to a dozen seconds and yields around 1000 Fresh Meat, sometimes up to 1200.
You can repeatedly kill Butcher, as each kill is short and the rewards are plentiful.
Torment 1 is recommended, with Torment 4 being preferable, as these difficulties drop even more Fresh Meat. Of course, if you can challenge Torment 4 or higher, you might also get Diablo 4 items with stronger affixes.
Additionally, sometimes you'll encounter other bosses that drop extra rewards. This is also a good source for farming runes.
Participating in Helltide
Another method is to use Meaty Offerings to activate the transformation into the Butcher during Shrine of Slaughter event in Helltide. Killing mobs while transformed will grant Fresh Meat. One run can yield around 1000 Fresh Meat.
This method is reasonably efficient and easy for beginners to complete. However, Meaty Offerings cannot be farmed infinitely; you need to accumulate them beforehand.
Seasonal Reputation Board
Then, you can also obtain Fresh Meat through Bloodied Caches on Seasonal Reputation Board.
Completing Reputation Board in the game allows you to claim Caches. Each Cache grants 286 Fresh Meat, plus additional Pounds of Flesh and Sigils. This is a good way to accumulate Pounds of Flesh, but Fresh Meat itself is less abundant than the other two, making it suitable for casual collection.
Of course, if you have already accumulated many Caches, you can claim a large amount of Fresh Meat at once.
How to Use Fresh Meat?
First, you can quickly reach Fresh Meat exchange location. Teleport to Broiler and exit through the side door; this is closer than using the teleport point.
The core principle for exchanging Fresh Meat is to only exchange for armor pieces, not rings or amulets, as armor is the strongest. The unique affixes on Bloodsoaked armor are extremely powerful. For example, Rampage grants a 10% critical strike chance bonus per Killstreak level, up to a maximum of 50% for 5 stacks. Attack speed can also be increased by up to 50%. These values are ridiculously high, practically like an official cheat code.
Looking at rings and amulets, their Bloodsoaked affixes are weak. For instance, the increased Hunger item drop rate during Killstreak is completely useless. Unless you desperately need a specific piece of equipment, never waste Fresh Meat.
Weapons also offer some good options, such as Bloodsoaked weapons with Berserking or core attributes. However, their priority is still lower than armor.
As for Mythic, there's less than a 1% chance of directly converting any Bloodsoaked equipment, including low-priced armor, into a random Mythic item.
However, its drop rate is actually quite unpredictable. Some players have reported using a lot of Fresh Meat and getting zero Mythic items, while a few have gotten Sparks with just 450 Fresh Meat.
Therefore, it's recommended not to gamble on Mythic items. Prioritize cheaper armor, as this offers the best cost-effectiveness. Treat Fresh Meat as a stable way to obtain top-tier affixes. If you get lucky and get a Mythic item, consider it a pleasant surprise.
Also, after redeeming equipment, if it's not Greater Affix, disenchant it. Prioritize the correct affixes based on your build, such as Critical Strike Chance, Attack Speed, Cooldown Reduction, etc.
Optimal Route Summary
In the early game, we need to unlock all Seasonal Reputation caches to accumulate Pound of Flesh and Meaty Offering. Once you have enough, go to Broiler to farm Butchers. Each run takes 10-30 seconds and yields 1000 Fresh Meat. During Helltide, take advantage of Butcher transformation event to acquire Fresh Meat and Favor.
Then use Fresh Meat you farm to exchange a chest armor piece, focusing only on Greater Affixes with the correct affix; disenchant the rest. Over time, this could potentially allow you to equip every piece with top-tier affixes like Rampage or Attack Speed, making it far stronger than Mythics.
During this event, Seasonal Reputation Board has a 25% Fresh Meat drop bonus, and the actual drop rate could be even higher.
