New Black Ops 6 maps are always exciting because they mean you can fight in a brand new environment! In fact, different geographical environments and architectural features mean that for shooting games like BO6, you can only adopt corresponding strategies to deal with the enemies and tasks in the map.
Not long ago, on April 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 brought a new map called Shattered Veil to the game’s zombie mode with Season 3. The map is actually a mansion called Sam Colton Hall located in Liberty Falls, where mysterious and terrible events seem to have happened in the past.
Although the map is not large, it is a good idea to select this map in Black Ops 6 Bot Lobbies for a pre-exercise if you want to avoid danger or familiarize yourself with the attack patterns of the enemies in it. But even so, if you encounter the boss on the map, it is difficult to win. With that in mind, here are some tips on how to defeat the final boss of Shattered Veil, Z-Rex.
Z-Rex Boss Battle Overview
Looking like a zombified wreck of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, this boss can attack you directly with bites and pounces, as well as summoning an army of undead. The entire boss battle consists of four phases, each of which introduces a new attack method, so to win, you must understand what attack mode the boss will adopt in each phase. It is worth noting that Edward Richtofen will provide you with assistance items at any time during the battle, such as ammunition or armor.
Phase One
When the battle begins, you will first enter the first phase, at which time Z-Rex will stomp around in the open arena, which is very intimidating due to its enormous size. To deal with this attack method of this boss, you first need to move between boulders, which will make it difficult for Z-Rex to turn around and attack you slower.
In addition, Z-Rex will eat poisonous zombies during the fight, and they will accumulate in the boss’s belly. If you shoot at the boss’s belly at this time, you can hit the boss with a critical hit, causing more damage. If Z-Rex has not yet eaten the zombies, shooting its glowing eyes can also achieve a similar effect.
When the damage you cause accumulates to about 25%, Z-Rex will jump out of the arena and attract a bunch of zombie enemies, but as long as you can gather them and shoot them when they are far enough away from you, you can kill them. It is worth noting that it is best to headshot them to get extra essence, because these essences can be exchanged for more ammunition in the ammunition supply box in the arena.
Phase Two
In terms of overall mechanics, Phase 2 is not much different from Phase 1. The only difference is that Z-Rex in Phase 2 can jump to attack you. If you want to predict the timing of his jump, keep a distance from him and look directly at him, while avoiding the green gas pools on the ground - they will cause damage and slow you down debuffs.
If you are unfortunate enough to be caught in this green gas, use the field upgrade Aether Shroud to stop Z-Rex while attacking him with the Ray Gun Mark 2-W. When you get the boss down to about 50% health in this way, he’ll jump out of the arena again, and you’ll need to fight regular zombies again while saving essence for more ammo.
Phase Three
The intense nature of Z-Rex boss fight really comes into play after Phase Three, as Z-Rex will chase you at a faster speed, and gas puddles will appear on the floor of the arena to slow you down. If you want to avoid them and the boss, use Ray Gun Mark 2-W to clear a path as an evasive path.
In fact, the most important thing in Phase 3 is still to keep your distance from Z-Rex. If it starts rushing towards you again, follow the same approach as in Phase 1 and slow the boss down by sliding between boulders so you can continue attacking him while avoiding him. When Z-Rex has about 25% health left, you’ll enter Phase 4.
Phase Four
As the final and most deadly phase, Phase Four requires you to stay on the move to avoid the boss’s attacks and bites, which can cause a lot of damage to you. If the boss gets too close during this phase, use Killstreak reward Chopper Gunner to attack Z-Rex to deplete his remaining health.
If you accidentally enter the downed state during this phase, it is recommended that you do not use Self-Revive Kit, but continue to shoot Z-Rex to cause as much damage as possible before you revive. This will allow you to kill him faster after reviving.
